motocross riding

Iron Horse Country is the place for kids to ride dirt bikes.  We have different riding areas all over the ranch and set up for all levels of riders.

Motocross Tracks

We have 5 tracks: The Barn Arena, The Horse Shoe, Leaping Lizard, Roller Coaster and the Pro Track .

The tracks are set up for different size motorcycles as well as to the skill level of riders. From easy roller jumps and burms to our big jump on the pro track. This makes it fun for all levels of riders and is a safe way to learn. The tracks make it easier for coaches to teach skills needed for progression. Riders will learn everything from starts and stops to turns, circle 8’s and jumps of various sizes.

Trails

We have many different trails and dirt roads around the ranch from the Outer Loop to the Country Trail, giving beginners through higher levels of riders different challenges. From winding through woods to crossing a creek and around our pond, there is lots to see. Our ranch is closed to the public so summer campers are in for a treat. We have lots of wildlife along with our cows and horse Bella to see during the rides.

Training tracks built for children

We have a custom built arena track designed for our specialized drills to get children riding sooner. Our ranch may look like Aliens have landed here with all our circles and circle 8 training tracks, but these practice areas get kids riding better more quickly… which means riding the motorcycles will be a lot safer for them then just winging it in a back lot as they used to do in the old days.

MSF Drills recreated for children’s motocross

The Motorcycle Safety Foundation (MSF) makes all the safety drills for people riding street bikes and is responsible for helping train riders to pass rider courses for a drivers license. Our Director was an MSF instructor before starting this camp and used some of those same drills to start the program here. Since our start 17 years ago, we have built a new way of teaching riders so they minimize the chance of falling. Our Director came up with the “motorcycle calisthenics” concept where we teach the muscles to learn a repetitive motion until it becomes a reflex needed to drive a motorcycle correctly. It can be practiced while just sitting on a motorcycle. After 50 reps of the exercises a child can drive a motorcycle which they have not even started. Its Magic! Much more awaits you at Iron Horse Country Ranch, The Kids Motocross Summer Camp.
