Monday morning, you wake up at home and get ready to head to your Overnight Week of Motorcycle Summer Camp.  Wait…did you just say, OverNIGHT?  For a whole WEEK?!!  Wow!!  Your parents must really, really LOVE you!

Yes, Iron Horse Country Ranch does  Overnight Camp well!  For many years we provided only Day Camp sessions. We tried out one week of Overnight Camp 8 years back and have offered it ever since,  increasing it by the high demand to ride from kids all over the country.  We are now transitioning our last families this year to all overnight camps for the future. Partly this is due to demand and COVID procedures which have made day camp more of hassle with regulations of the coming and going to camp each day a safety concern.   It’s way easier overnight and too much fun, so overnight it is, Lets go ride!

Overnight offers these lucky campers the experience of non-stop excitement and thrills from arrival on Monday to departure on Friday.  It’s like sneaking into Disney World and getting to stay after it closes!  Our Austin-area parents won’t have to worry about everyday pickup/dropoff, and our out-of-town parents will be relieved to have more slots!  Campers love it and feel a sense of accomplishment and pride as they embark out on their own for a week of excitement, personal growth and fun.  Overnight at the Ranch is a wonderful time for our kids – they feel like Iron Horse  Ranch is their own private playground in the country, having it all to themselves the entire week.  Campfires, S’mores, Evening Rides,  Delicious Meals, Night Games and even Fireworks only happen at the Ranch during these special weeks.

A Note About COVID:  Even though it’s going on almost two years since the corona virus made its debut, we are all still dealing with it at the current time, Winter 2021.  While none of us know exactly what things will be like next summer we all hope that the pandemic will be under control at that point, especially with all the progress already made with vaccinations.  We understand that parents may have still have concerns about sending their child to  camp despite the fact that summer is almost 1/2 a year away and life could be returning back to normal for us all by then.
So here’s what we want you to know: We are prepared to employ the same precautions as we did this past summer and the summer before, if required by our licensing entity, the Texas Dept. of Health and Human Services. These have included:

  • Appropriate spacing on the bus, bunk rooms,  dining hall and whenever inside a building
  • Pre-camp screenings, temperature checks before bus boarding and multiple checks during the week
  • Good ventilation when indoors
  • Use of face coverings when inside and not in full gear
  • Hand washing throughout the day with Dial Soap and water (including by the riding tracks – no mean feat on a 100 acre ranch!).  We remain serious and disciplined about all of this.
