Iron Horse Country Ranch is proud to have a team of dedicated and specialized coaches and counselors focused on teaching children to ride motorcycles, specifically dirt bikes, within our unique summer camp setting. Our staff undergo specialized training to ensure they can care for your child both on and off the bike, prioritizing their safety at all times.
We take the safety and well-being of our campers very seriously. All staff members undergo extensive background checks and participate in annual training programs, including sexual abuse prevention and camper care. Most of our coaches and counselors have been with us since their own days as campers, bringing a deep understanding and passion for the camp experience. Our camp is state licensed, ensuring we meet high standards of care and safety.
Our motorcycle training program is tailored specifically for children. We follow a similar curriculum to the Motorcycle Safety Foundation’s road bike licensing program, adapted by our director, a former instructor for the Foundation. This program ensures that our coaches are equipped with the skills to teach young riders effectively. One of our unique approaches is teaching our coaches how to guide riders and control the bike without being on it themselves. This “remote control” method allows for better supervision and assistance, helping riders maintain control and confidence on the bike.

When it comes to riding dirt bikes, having the right model that fits your current skill level is crucial for progressing safely and confidently. If you are just starting out, you need a smaller bike with an automatic clutch to learn the basics quicker. As you advance, you can move up to a larger bike with a clutch. Starting with a faster bike often leads to accidents and injuries.
